Terms and things to know before you begin
The following terms and names are frequently used in this guide.
Self Service: Build/modify custom reports, KPIs, and dashboards.
Collections
:
A collection of folders used to organize and house your dashboards. A
collection can be private or public. Learn
more.
Reports: Reports represent a detailed set of data. It can contain measures, attributes, and common data elements. Learn more.
Dashlets: A container for a report that displays on a dashboard. You can resize, move, and format a dashlet. Learn more.
KPI: A KPI is a measurable numerical value that can be used as an indicator of how you are achieving a goal or target. Learn more.
Measure
:
Numerical data elements that you count such as ALS calls, attempts, interventions,
etc. You can perform mathematical operations on measures such as addition,
subtraction, averaging, etc.
Attribute
:
Elements such as date, time, name, etc.
Aggregation: Count distinct, count, average, maximum, minimum, or sum.
Count: Counts the number of total records. For example, a trip with a four member crew would be counted as four.
Count distinct: Counts the number of distinct values. For example, a trip with a four member crew would be counted as one trip.

Data elements commonly used in EMS.
Modes: There are two modes in Self Service, Publish and Edit.
Publish
Mode
: This is the mode you land in when you
click Self Service. In this mode, you can view dashboards in your personal
collection or in a shared collection. You can't edit a dashboard or report/KPI
in this mode - just view it. When you create a new dashboard, or edit
an existing dashboard, you must publish before it can be used.
Edit
Mode
: There are a couple of ways to access
the Edit Mode from the Publish Mode.
Visualizer: Visualizer is a powerful tool that allows you to create/modify KPIs, and change the report/chart settings, etc. Learn more.
Drill-across: A drill-across link connects a button, chart, image, KPI, or tabular report to another dashboard. When a user clicks the item, another dashboard opens. Learn more .
