Logging In

The method you use to log into Respond depends on how your Dispatch was configured. You will know which method to use by the log in screen.

Dispatched determined log in (DDL)

If you see this log in screen, Dispatch has already determined your crew. All you have to do is log in and determine if your device is primary.

If you see this log in screen, your crew has not been determined by Dispatch. You will need to supply all the required information and determine if your device is primary.

Company name

If your vehicle is associated with only one company, that company displays. If that is not the case, tap the company field, type the first character of your company’s name, and select the name from the list.

Vehicle

Tap the vehicle field, type the first character of the vehicle name, and select the vehicle from the list.

  • Supervisor: This field is optional. If you select a vehicle, you will see the Active Trips tab on the Trips screen.
  • Field User: This field is mandatory.

Primary device

There must be one primary device for each vehicle. You can change the primary device any time after you log on.

When a device is primary:

  • It is used for AVL data for the vehicle
  • The user of the device can acknowledge Respond Alerts: While a Respond Alert displays on all Respond devices associated with the vehicle, only the primary device can acknowledge the alert.
  • The user of the device can change the status of the trip. Non-primary device users can view the status but cannot change them.

If the vehicle already has a designated primary device and you need to make your device primary, you can:

  • Upon log in – Welcome screen: Tap the ‘Make this the primary device’ box and then tap Next. The system will reassign the role of primary device to your device.
  • After log in: Tap your name in the top blue banner. The drop-down list displays the crew members for the vehicle.  A phone icon displays next to the user of the primary device. Tap ‘Make this the primary device’ to reassign that role to your device.

Since there has to be one designated primary device for each vehicle, if the primary device logs off:

  • The system sends a notification to all devices on the vehicle asking one to become the new primary device.

After the primary logs off, you can make another device primary.

  • After someone taps ‘Make Primary’, the system removes the notification from all devices. If dispatch pushes a trip to the vehicle before a new primary device is chosen, the device that acknowledges the Respond Alert becomes the new primary device.

Add the crew

When you log in to Respond, you are considered one of the crew members. To add up to nine additional crew members, tap the plus sign next to Add Crew. When you are done, tap Next. This populates RescueNet Dispatch with the logged in crew member names that may not have a device or be logged in while on the vehicle.

When you click Next, the Trip screen displays.

Using Biometric login

When biometric identification is enabled on your device (facial ID or fingerprint), you can use it to log onto Respond. If the device is used by a single owner, utilizing the biometric login feature saves time and eases the login process.

Note: If your device does not have biometric capability, the option to enable this feature does not display.

If this is the first time you logged into Respond after the 12.0 release update, a notification will display that tells you about the option to use biometric identification for subsequent logins. If you select 'YES' then biometric login is activated for your next login. If you select 'NO', then you will continue to login by entering your username and password.

The next time you login, the biometric capability will be available.
