What's New in Release 10.6

June 2021

Fixed in this release

We fixed the following issues in 10.6 of Fire Reports:

  • Ohio Fire Departments may now select that aid was received from or given to new FDs Liberty/Washington (35009) and Malinta/ Moroe Twp (35011).

  • Aid Given code 5 (Other Aid Given) is now treated exactly the same as selecting code N (No Aid given or received) which ensures compliance with the NFIRS Rule (Relational Edit Rule 21).

  • Corrected a problem that prevented users from being able to edit or view all pages of an investigation.

  • Corrected a problem that prevented users from adding or editing data in the Hydrant module. Updated the grid that displays existing Hydrants to properly display distance from building values.

  • When working on an incident report, if the incident type is a confined fire (113 - 118), users may not report that any casualty died as a result of the fire or that property loss was greater than $5,000. These changes ensure compliance with NFIRS Relational Edit Rule 173 which states: If Incident Type Between 113-118 (inclusive) Then (Property Loss cannot be > $5,000 or Civilian Deaths cannot be > 0 or Fire Service Deaths cannot be > 0).

For our users, please note the following guidance provided by NFIRS:

Incident Type codes 113-118 are used for a fire in a structure that is confined to a non-combustive container. Appliances and equipment are not coded as confined fires with the exception of chimneys and commercial compactors. A fire with a death or with property loss more than $5,000 is considered a consequential incident; therefore, the fire is not coded as a confined fire. Some examples of equipment fires that should not be coded as confined fire are:

    • Fire is clothes dryers

    • Microwave oven fires

    • Fires in toaster ovens

  • When working in the Inspection module, selecting No on any checklist question will automatically create a violation so long as the violation code has not been set to Hidden on the Configuration page Inspection Code Details. Changing the checklist answer to Yes or N/A will remove the violation if one was previously added during the same inspection.

  • Users may now select to enter location data on the Wildland form when that form is optionally used for incident types 561 (Unauthorized burning), 631 (Authorized controlled burning) or 632 (Prescribed fire). In previous versions of Fire Reports, users could only enter location data on the Wildland form when that form was used with incident types 140-143, 160 or 170-173.
