Important! emsCharts for Windows version 4.8.0 introduced a significant upgrade to the encryption used for securing local databases. Due to these security improvements, the Windows Background Service and Remote Admin Tool are no longer compatible with the updated encryption mode. As a result, these components are no longer supported and will not be updated moving forward.
emsCharts for Windows 4.9.0 does not include any new features, but fixes several issues, including those related to data synchronization. See the bug fixes section below for the full details.
The following issues were fixed in release 4.9.0:
-
emsCharts for Windows could be become unusable if the application was shut down during synchronization, which caused restarts and a Service ID 0 error. To address this and prevent similar database issues, we have introduced new safeguards:
-
If shutdown occurs during the initial database sync, the system will now detect the error and require a fresh login, Service selection, and database rebuild.
-
If key database tables are missing, the application will back up the database, notify the user, and require a rebuild on restart.
-
After each sync, tables are verified and any incomplete or outdated data is automatically re-synchronized.
-
Tables flagged as incomplete in prior syncs or older than 14 days are now automatically included in the update.
-
-
New users were prevented from being added and synced to the emsCharts for Windows client database. Now, new users will be synced properly to the clients. Additionally, we have introduced the ability to remove users that were added to a Service. When a user is removed, the system will now properly delete their record.
-
The ZIP code lookup tool was not functioning properly. ZIP code, city, and state search results will now populate correctly in the address lookup fields. A new installation is required to update.
-
Defects related to removing records when data was synchronized, as well as issues specific to synchronized updates for IABP checklist for blood pressure and blood pressure pre and post values.
-
emsCharts for Windows was not properly receiving updates from the server.
We are aware of the following issues:
-
Remote Admin Tool: emsCharts for Windows version 4.8 introduced a significant upgrade to the encryption used for securing local databases. Due to these security improvements, the Windows Background Service and Remote Admin Tool are no longer compatible with the updated encryption mode. As a result, these components are no longer supported and will not be updated moving forward.
-
Hospital selection: Selecting a Hospital using the magnifying glass may not update the Hospital name right away. This is just a visual issue and the data is saved normally. The Hospital name will update visually when you navigate away.
-
ZOLL Cloud ECG Import unexpected error: If the EKG Report Image Type for your service is set to anything other than 'Default (Leave as JPG, Bitmap)', users will receive an "Unexpected error" when trying to import into ZOLL emsCharts for Windows. Administrators can update this setting in the Web ECG Configuration code table.
-
Multiple brands of ECG devices: If you use both ZOLL ECG devices and other manufacturers' devices, you will need two instances of ZOLL emsCharts for Windows installed.
-
Windows on ARM is not currently supported. For example, Microsoft Surface Pro X devices. For more information about Windows on ARM, see Microsoft's Windows Arm-based PCs FAQ.
-
Data Validations:
-
Some Data Validation Rules may not fire as expected in ZOLL emsCharts for Windows. We are tracking these and will address them as they arise. If you run into this issue, you will be prompted to finish your chart on the Web.
-
Some Data Validation Rules are not yet click-able. Clicking them will not bring you to the field.
-
-
PIPP Pain Scale: Behavioral State and Heart Rate Maximum in the PIPP Pain Scale do not populate with data.
-
Ventricular Device Assist procedure: An unexpected error message is displayed when attempting to save a Ventricular Device Assist (VAD) procedure to a PCR. The error can be closed and you can continue charting as normal.
