ZOLL emsCharts for Windows 4.4.4
July 17, 2024
IMPORTANT!
Critical Hotfix Available for Windows Application
We have released a hotfix (version 4.4.5) for the Windows application to address a critical issue that can result in unexpected data being populated between charts when multiple charts are open simultaneously. This issue has been observed in earlier releases (4.4.2 and 4.4.4) and may result in duplicate or merged chart information, including sensitive patient details. We strongly recommend applying this update as soon as possible to prevent any further issues.
If you are using an earlier release of the application and experience any issues, please contact our support team for assistance. Additionally, we recommend verifying any existing charts after applying the update to ensure data integrity.
We are currently conducting a root cause analysis and will share more details about impacted records.
If you have users with charts that can’t be uploaded, please do not delete the charts. Please contact our support team so that we can work with you to resolve issues in these charts.

New features and enhancements
Data Validation
The following Data Validation updates have been made:
-
We improved Data Validation operations reliability in ZOLL emsCharts for Windows.
-
Patient pop-up fields will now be highlighted correctly.
-
You can now click on 'Response Mode' Data Validation errors or warnings to be taken directly to the field, and the Path displays as expected.
-
We updated Data Validation to process rules sequentially to ensure that all rules are processed completely and to reduce logic conflicts that resulted in application crashes or data failing to save as expected. This update also addressed individual issues with some fields referenced by Data Validation.
Allergies - not hidden
The Allergies picklist will only display values that are configured as not hidden for the Service.
Assessments - Not Present
Assessments with only 'Not Present' values are now displayed under Secondary Survey > Injury/Assessment.
Bug fixes
Receiving Name field
We fixed an issue with the Receiving Name field not correctly displaying the selected value.
Patient information
We fixed an issue where you could not retrieve patient information on a reverse trip when the Dispatch date/time was blank.
Ventilator exception error
We fixed an issue causing an exception error when a Ventilator Action documented with a 'Change Rationale' value was reopened for viewing or editing from the Activity Log.
Viewing other crew PCRs
Non-admin users will not see other charts on the mobile device if they are not listed on the crew.
NEMSIS export configuration errors
We updated error messages to indicate if a NEMSIS export is not configured or has been configured incorrectly. If you receive an error that states "NEMSIS is not configured for this service." or " The configured version of NEMSIS is not supported.", please review your export settings under Configuration > Service > Export.
Census Tract error
We fixed an issue that was causing an error to display when values were added to the Census Tract field under Dispatch > Referring/Receiving > Other.
Patient Billing Information Forms
We fixed an issue that was preventing values selected for Forms under Patient Information > Billing Information from saving properly.
Cloud ECG
We fixed issues that prevented ECG's from properly downloading and attaching from the cloud.
Known issues
We are aware of the following issues and are working to resolve them in an upcoming release:
-
Hospital selection: Selecting a Hospital using the magnifying glass may not update the Hospital name right away. This is just a visual issue and the data is saved normally. The Hospital name will update visually when you navigate away.
-
ZOLL Cloud EKG Import unexpected error: If the EKG Report Image Type for your service is set to anything other than 'Default (Leave as JPG, Bitmap)', users will receive an "Unexpected error" when trying to import into ZOLL emsCharts for Windows. Administrators can update this setting in the Web EKG Configuration code table.
-
Multiple brands of EKG devices: If you use both ZOLL EKG devices and other manufacturers' devices, you will need two instances of ZOLL emsCharts for Windows installed.
-
Windows on ARM is not currently supported. For example, Microsoft Surface Pro X devices. For more information about Windows on ARM, see Microsoft's Windows Arm-based PCs FAQ.
-
Data Validations:
-
Some Data Validation Rules may not fire as expected in ZOLL emsCharts for Windows. We are tracking these and will address them as they arise. If you run into this issue, you will be prompted to finish your chart on the Web.
-
Some Data Validation Rules are not yet click-able. Clicking them will not bring you to the field.
