New features/enhancements
South Dakota custom elements
[ NEMSIS 3.5 ]
We are providing the ability to document a large number of South Dakota custom elements via the Page 9 State V3 Custom Elements page. We focused on the error and warning schematron message items. This is to ensure that you can create NEMSIS 3.5 files for South Dakota by their goal date of March 31, 2023. In addition, we are associating hospitals with their state-provided facility codes. Additional fields and values will be released at a later time.
Syncope
[ NEMSIS 3.5 ] [ NEMSIS 3.4 ]
We have added a new national standard value of 'Syncope' to the Page 8 Medication and Procedure Complications list.
Fixed issues
None.
New features/enhancements
NEMSIS 3.5 Exams
[ NEMSIS 3.5 ]
There are now both Anterior Chest and Posterior Chest selections for the new exams body locations on Page 5. Previously, the Posterior Chest was labeled 'Intrathoracic'.
Configurations:
-
Set Anatomical Exam to 'Yes, v3.5 Body' in Configuration > Command Fac. > Chart > Page 5 > Anatomical Exam. Existing charts will not inherit changes to the Anatomical Exam configuration made after they were created. Charts will reflect the Anatomical Exam setting in place at the time the chart was created.
-
In addition to setting the Anatomical Exam configuration to 'Yes, v3.5 Body', administrators must also set Configuration > Command Fac. > Chart > Page 5 > Posterior Chest Assess to 'Yes'.
Transfer of Care update
[ NEMSIS 3.5 ] [ NEMSIS 3.4 ]
Due to specific requirements, when 'Treated, Transferred Care' (or equivalent mapped NEMSIS value) is selected as the Disposition, both 'Transfer Care EMS' and 'Transfer Care Dest' time fields might be required. Previously, only 'Transfer Care EMS' was editable and 'Transfer Care Dest' was hidden when 'Treated, Transferred Care' (or equivalent mapped NEMSIS value) was selected as the Disposition. Now, when 'Treated, Transferred Care' (or equivalent mapped NEMSIS value) is selected as the Disposition, both 'Transfer Care EMS' and 'Transfer Care Dest' time fields are displayed and editable.
Fixed issues
NEMSIS update for Virginia
[ NEMSIS 3.4 ]
All previously deprecated roles have been re-enabled on Pages 7 and 8 to fix a Virginia rule.
Note: The re-enabled roles have been mapped to their corresponding values for NEMSIS 3.5 exports.
Standard Signature exports
[ NEMSIS 3.5 ] [ NEMSIS 3.4 ]
Both the Crew Member name and Receiving Facility Representative name in Section III of the Standard Signature Form will now export correctly for NEMSIS and BILL exports.
New features/enhancements
CMS Service Level - NEMSIS export configuration
[ ZOLL UI ] [ LEGACY UI ]
A new configuration, 'NEMSIS Payment Applicable', has been created in the 'Transport Outcomes/Patient Disposition' code table for Command Facilities and Regions. The new configuration determines how the CMS Service Level (ePayment.50) element is exported for NEMSIS. If 'NEMSIS Payment Applicable' is set to 'Yes' for a disposition, ePayment.50 will export with the calculated CMS Service Level for the chart. If 'NEMSIS Payment Applicable' is set to 'No' for a disposition, ePayment.50 will export as "Not Applicable" regardless of the calculated CMS Service Level for the chart.
Page 3 GCS scores export
[ ZOLL UI ] [ LEGACY UI ]
GCS scores on Page 3 are now included with the NEMSIS and BILL exports.
Fixed issues
Default exam options
[ ZOLL UI ] [ LEGACY UI ]
We fixed an issue that was found when using default exams that caused unexpected items to show up.
NEMSIS 3.5 exam locations
[ ZOLL UI ] [ LEGACY UI ]
With the new NEMSIS 3.5 exam locations, the default list for body locations had the new exam locations included. Now, as intended, the additional exam locations will only be in the list when the Anatomical Exam configuration is set to 'Yes, v3.5 Body'.
Configuration: Set Anatomical Exam to 'Yes, v3.5 Body' in Configuration > Command Fac. > Chart > Page 5 > Anatomical Exam. Existing charts will not inherit changes to the Anatomical Exam configuration made after they were created. Charts will reflect the Anatomical Exam setting in place at the time the chart was created.
Emergency Department and Hospital Admission Diagnosis - eOutcome.10 | eOutcome.13
[ ZOLL UI ]
The Emergency Department Diagnosis (eOutcome.10) and Hospital Admission Diagnosis (eOutcome.13) fields on the Patient Followup: Hospital Notes page, now export the whole ICD-10 code to NEMSIS.
Replace patient not clearing pertinent negative values
[ ZOLL UI ] [ LEGACY UI ]
We fixed an issue where patient-related pertinent negative values would not be cleared when switching patients.
Page 8 - duplicate Airway action
[ ZOLL UI ] [ LEGACY UI ]
We fixed an issue that caused a double entry to be displayed for 'Airway - Other' in the Action Log on Page 8 and on the Entire Chart and Print Preview pages. The issue occurred when adding the 'Airway - Other' action on Page 8, choosing 'CPAP' in the Airway Log Action field, and entering a value in the Airway Log 'Flow (for Oxygen)' field. Once saved under these conditions, the duplicate 'Airway - Other' action would be displayed.
