Mapping the CAD Elements

The following video shows how to map the CAD elements.

Mapping is done when you obtain the ID value of an item in the CAD system and match it to a corresponding item in ZOLL emsCharts. Your CAD and ZOLL emsCharts systems group these items into categories known as tables.

While many data elements automatically populate with the import, there are some areas that require mapping. This section covers how to deal with mapping items that are added or changed in your CAD or ZOLL emsCharts system.

Note: Categories in the CAD Mapping area vary based on the CAD system. The following mapping process remains the same regardless.

The ZOLL RescueNet CAD system provides a direct connection to its database. If your system does not support a direct connection, obtain these values from the CAD system using data exports, reports, or other methods.

Base Sites

To get started, click Configuration, CAD Mapping and then Base Sites.

Here we see a list of all existing ZOLL emsCharts base sites under the 'emsCharts Name' column, the 'emsCharts ID' and then the 'CAD ID' field where you’ll enter the values from your CAD system. If you are a ZOLL RescueNet user, click the Request CAD Data drop-down to obtain a list of values, select Posts/Bases, and then click 'Get Data'. Regardless of where you obtain your values, you’ll need to populate them into the 'CAD ID' column.

An important concept to understand for all the different mapping categories is that of 'One to many'. This means that you can map a single ZOLL emsCharts value to several CAD values. Using Base Sites as an example, you can associate several posts in the CAD system to a single ZOLL emsCharts Base Site using a semi-colon as a separator. What you cannot do is map a single CAD value to multiple ZOLL emsCharts values.

There are three categories that vary from this process.

Respond Units

Response Units are your vehicles. RescueNet Dispatch users that dispatch and collect data by vehicle number, will request CAD data from vehicles and populate this field with the ID number. If you’re dispatching by unit, and ZOLL emsCharts is configured with units, select unit from the drop-down and populate the CAD ID field with the name value from the pop-up window.

Transport Outcomes

Transport Outcomes are your cancellation reasons and outcome values from the CAD systems. Most agencies only map their pre-scene cancellation reasons. Once the crew is on-scene they’re more likely to have the best information to select a value for the Transport Outcome field.

Hospitals

In Common Addresses, you map to all the medical facilities, scene locations, and any other common location that your agency frequently responds with the exception of hospitals. Do not map any of your hospitals in 'Common Addresses'. Hospitals are setup on the Hospitals page.

From the Configuration page click Hospitals.

Click the 'Search for Hospital' button. Enter your criteria in the pop-up window. Be sure to start and end your search with the percent (wild card) character. Then enter your state and click Search. You will see a list of matching hospitals. Click a hospital to view the hospital details and state specific information. Click the 'Go to HospInfo' (Customer View) link and then In the 'CAD Import Code' field enter the ID value from your CAD system. Click Save.
