Adding a Transaction Note

A user with payment posting permissions, can now add a note to a transaction in the "Finish later" or review window.

TIP!

Don't get confused between this feature and the "Add Claim Note" capability shown on the Payment Posting page.

There is a big difference. The "Add Claim Note" option on the Payment Posting page immediately adds a claim note to the claim for that line item.

A transaction note, found when you click "Finish later", will add a note to the transaction and all the claims associated with that transaction after the transaction is successfully posted.

There are a couple of things to note about this feature:

  • You cannot add a note to a posted transaction.

  • Transaction notes on all associated claims will be deleted if a transaction is reversed.

  • After posting the transaction, a note cannot be edited but can be removed. If it is removed, it is removed from all claims associated with the transaction. Deleting a transaction note will result in an audit entry.

  • This functionality will not post a note to an ignored claim.

  • Editing a transaction note on a claim will not change the transaction note on the transaction or the other associated claims.

  • Users with payment posting permission can edit a payment posting note made by another user on a transaction before it is posted.

  • A user with payment posting permission, but not note permission, can edit or delete a payment posting note on a claim but can not edit or delete a non-payment posting note on the same claim.
