Finding the Remit Number in an 835 File

Use the following steps to find a remit number in an 835 file.

1. Open the 835 remit file in Notepad.
2. Press CTRL+F to open the Find/Replace box. Use the following settings to format the file for easy viewing.

   

3. You will be looking for a segment that has the ~REF|2U|xxxxx segment as shown in the following example:

   

4. In the above example, you are looking for a Remit ED of ~REF|2U|00241. You would want to enter 00241 in the "ZirMed remit ID" field on the Insurance page.

   

5. If the file does not have the ~RED|2U segment, you will need to check another place.

6. The send place in the file will be the 3rd section of the ~TRN segment.

   Note: Only use this number if there is no ~REF|2U section.

   

7. In this example, the number would be 1860257201. This would be placed in the same section as before.

8. After you change/add this number, you will need to re-import the claim.
